A Note from the Director

Thank you all for making our production of Mamma Mia a success!

To the audience members who attended the show, your presence brought the energy and excitement we needed. In today’s world where so many events are happening, we are glad you are here. Please join us after bows to sing with us as we celebrate the music of ABBA!

A special shoutout to the parents for supporting their kiddos and making sure that we were at rehearsals and got home again each night. It was great to meet many new families this year and to have each of you part of our department. You made it even more fun!

To the incredible band for their amazing performances in the pit. Thanks go to Mr. Robert Cameron who is always up for a musical month and to Mr. Austin Humphrey for keeping the computer chugging along. What we keep learning is sure more fun together. I could not do it without you! Thanks a million!

We are deeply grateful to the booster club officers for dedicating their time and talents to our theatre department. To Paul Brown, Ami Cotton, Jennifer Brown, Shara Phillips, Tiffany Mattfeld and Chase Waites—you guys rock! I would not be anywhere without your unbelievable patience, time, and love of these kids. You make sure that I am able to focus on what I love, and you help to make this a great experience. You help put the kids first all the time and you have even brought more families in to be part of the fun we have. To Katie Pickard who makes sure we have the money in place and deals with the paperwork! You get tons of kudos! You keep us legal, LOL! To all of the Booster Club—thank you! None of this would happen without you and your belief in what we are doing for the kids.

To the kids, your enthusiasm and eagerness to learn about this show were truly inspiring. I hope it was fun, you created great memories, and you learned more about yourselves and each other. Seniors, it is not the last time…but it will be one of the best times. Keep smiling and know that you have truly left it better than you found it. Juniors – time to step up into those shoes. May you fill them with as much joy and enthusiasm as those who came before. Sophomores and Freshman – the learning never stops! Keep growing and questioning all that you want to know about.

We also want to thank our administration for their unwavering support of our programming, as well as the students and staff who come out to appreciate our work. Your contributions and encouragement mean the world to us!

Coming into her third year of theatre, but first at MHS, she is looking forward to the year ahead. Having already had the opportunity to be Shylock in Something Rotten, as well as featured roles in John Cariani's LoveSick. More recently Mercedes has also been able to play the Grand Duchess in MHS production of You Can’t Take It with You. She has also had the opportunity to have a few stints as a stage manager under her belt. This year she’s on the ComedySportz team. Along with two separate theatre classes, Advanced Tech, and Varsity Productions, she's hoping that her first year at MHS will be a good one and so far, her predictions seem to be correct. She worked tech for Sense and Sensibility.
